another new toy > the new iPod video 60GB

ok i admit i bought a quite a lot of tech gadgets this year - 1st, the Sharp 26" LCD TV, then Sony PSP, then Sony Cybershot T-5 and lastly the iPod (which I'm very proud of) that i bought today!

I suddenly have this crazy urge to get the new iPod video 60GB after my vacation and have been checking the net for details of it and bam! I bought 1 today! Actually, my big boss gave us an incentive half day off from work this afternoon around 1pm and the the 1st thing I did after I got home was to check the net for the features of the new iPod video. That's when I made up my mind and rush down to Sim Lim Square to purchase the iPod Video 60GB (Black). Oh I also bought and installed the screen protector film to protect my new toy and those rubber-like skin for my iPod.

What a way to start year 2006 with all my tech toys! I always believe you gotta work hard, study hard and play(+ enjoy) hard!

Even the packing is so slim & sexy!

oooh...

Now, I'm going to sell/auction off my Creative Zen 20GB. Anyone interested?

Arsenal was Pathetic!

I was an Arsenal fan for that mere 2 hrs hoping the Gunners would give Chelsea something for Christmas but the former was just playing badly at home! Arsenal lost 2-0 to Chelsea for the last time they played them at Highbury. Was hoping Arsenal can help my Man Utd to close the points gap but given their performance and the terrible mistake by Lauren that awarded Chelsea the 2nd goal & cost the Gunners the match,.....disappointed.

Talking point 1 : Van Persie's goal should not be ruled offside!
Talking point 2 : Essien should had been sent off!

Arsenal's title race is definately over...Let's see what my beloved Man Utd can do to mount a serious title race.

Some thoughts after exams

Exams over! Managed to sit thru' the 3hr Financial Manage & Control paper from 3 to 6pm. Don't really felt relieved after all. Maybe because the paper is so F tough! June 05 passing rate was only 37%, what bout Dec 05? I don't know... Seriously, the paper is tough and i doubt i can struggle through. Kinda low morale now after giving all that I could n knowing it could all turn out to be disastrous when the result are out come Feb 06.

Gimme a pistol so that I can play Russian Roulette with myself.

International Seafood Buffet @ Marina Sqaure

ah.... so tired, only slept for a few hours after watching that disappointing Man Utd match (still very disappointed). Took a cab down to Marina Square coz I woke up late but when I reach the restaurant bout 12 pm, the receptionist wouldn't let me in coz reservation was for 1pm! Called Garry up and he said the whole bunch of them are on their way, will be late. Screw you dude! Why tell us to be there at 12 when all u guys are coming at 1pm!?

Then ah Kong and Yeo appear, also being told the same timing crap! So the 3 of us went to look at some world cup jerseys, wander and shop around the mall until those late assholes appear. Anyway....

the restaurant looks kinda posh, located at level 3, Pariss International Seafood Buffet. Rather posh lah, good food and different variety of them.
JJ sucking on some weird seafood

Shankar always likes to disturb JJ even outside work

the ever-mischievous monkey

It was all fun during the long lunch from 1pm+ till 3+ especially after I haven been back at work for a week due to my exam period. Rather gd break for me since I've been home for the past few days stressing myself for next wed's paper (for crying out loud). Shankar and Garry kept telling me what happen when I wasn't around, how Prem (the ass clown) always screw up the task and how I should 'takan' them when I'm back... ha ha. Oh, and Garry bought the new Nokia N70 phone. *envy envy*

ya ya showing off ur new N70 in front of me!

So jealous of Garry coz ''my mum bought me one...'' should be an early X'mas gift from Mummy. I actually tried out his phone and compare some shots taken from his N70 n my K750 (both phones offer 2 Mega Pixel) both shots taken also not bad lah... mine looks brighter n Garry's N70 also looks gd coz larger phone screen mah... arrr tech geeks!

But once again, my Sony PSP stole the limelight as the guys are having a ''break'' before officiating the 2nd half of the buffet.

desperate Prem watching while Shankar had a go on my PSP

Prem is not going to and I will never let him touch my PSP! I just wish I can control myself not to whack him later....

the guys watching some video clips off the PSP...isn't it cool?

bossman Mr Tharma being presented the plug

Not to forget, Tharma is leaving us for some better pasture elsewhere after all these years of contribution to our section. Wish him all da best in his future endeavours!

you're welcome!

Last shot of the day...Garry giving us a ride and a finger before we left for our own agenda.

Aiyoh, so tired today. Think I'm not going to do my revision liao, I need a good sleep then I'll study harder tomorrow onwards.

F#@%$^(* disappointed

I'm so f*beep*ink disappointed that Man Utd totally screwed up and crashed out of the champions league and totally out of Europe! This is so frustrating coz not even a UEFA cup placing. F%#k!! Started off well with a goal by Paul Scholes in the 6th minute and then bout 10 mins later, disaster struck! Benfica equalised with a superb diving header by their Geovanni and then they went off to lead 2-1 and finally won the game and proceed onto competition. a dissapointed Alan Smith & Paul Scholes

But what pissed me off was the 2nd half time wasting tactics by Benfica. You can see players fell, rolled in pain when there was any real contact or just a slight one. At one point one of the defender actually walk up immediately after being stretchered out! And in the dying moments bout 80+ mins, the Benfica goalkeeper made a big issue out of nothing, claiming being injured after a knock! I'm not going continue bitching bout how Benfica players were but reality was, Man Utd crashes out. m really disappointed...

Damn, I don't feel like carrying on my revision...no morale liao. Gonna sleep now coz later still have to attend a lunch gathering @ Marina Square.

so disappointed...

This thursday still have a flight outing at Marina, so half day gone & Fri another anniversary thingy going on, another half day....tried to escape the thursday lunch cum outing but boss call me up n ''convince'' me, therefore no choice but to attend. (Pardon me but...I'm on leave. You approved my leave, remember?)

Think I'm going to study another 3 hrs till bout 9am + then sleep for 4 hrs before whacking hard for the exams.

What to do? still young.... gotta work to finance my degree.... it this what they call prime stage of being a young adult?

Cash outflow...

I'm so busy recently that I've no time to clear my in-tray, couple of mails to follow up, pay bills etc. While going through my in-tray, saw this ACCA mail lying there & realised it was a notification for my annual subscription for 2006....good thing i saw that because I actually forgotten all bout it! This is to maintain my yearly student subscription for ACCA global register. So I log on and pay online lor.

UK£59 leh.... today's spot rate is 1 GBP = 2.92730 SGD that means I'm paying SGD$172.711 loh! Wah lau... and this is just the UK thingy. I still have to pay the S'pore ICPAS same annual thingy SGD$120. Simple maths : total = SGD$272.11. Burned! This is just to maintain my name in the UK and S'pore student register.

Waaahh, I'm really being @#*^ this time. On wait, still have to pay my mobile, SCV and maxonline bills altogether... On yah still need to transfer $225 to Wenguang later to the year end retreat at M'sia. Jialaat...today really ganna burned deep deep....

Surprising I'm not very tired or sleepy after studying though the nite. Morning air just smells better + the sky is beautiful (see the photo below, no bluf you). Finally my body clock adjusted after 2 days to that of an owl or nightwatcher or whatever. Pre-exam routine. Trying to following my planned timetable during my study leave :

3.00 pm to 3.30 pm ~ "10 more minutes lah.." (lazy buffer sleep & getting up)
3.30 pm to 4.30 pm ~ slack, play, newspaper, food,tv,etc.
4.30 pm to 6.30 pm ~ light revision
6.30 pm to 7.30 pm ~ jogging (really helps to de-stress)
8.oopm to 10.00pm ~ TV + enjoy time
10.oopm to 7.00am ~ intensive revision, practise exam qns (with many small breaks to perk me on!)

Brain rather " jammed" now.... whole night just practising on working capital management & investment appraisals. Don't know how many I gonna cope in the exam hall....very time constraint-ing paper.

Think my Straits Times arrived liao. ok now... I shall have corn flacks with milk + Straits Time then zzzzz. Good Morning!

New Toy > Sony Cyber Shot DSC-T5

Got another new toy today - the slim Sony Digital Camera DSC-T5 (Black). I always wanted a good digital camera to replace my current obsolete one. Got this cool, slim cam @ Sitex 2005 for $649 with additional free gifts : a carrying case, a 512MB Memory Stick and a 256MB Memory Stick and also a Sony voucher. I did my 'research' previously on 5 MP Cams and I remember this was one of my choice apart from the Panasonic one. What I like bout this cam is that it is sleek, sexy design, easy to use; large and clear 2.5" LCD, solid snapshot n high-quality movie mode and a long battery life. Totally Worthwhile!

Air mail

It's that time of the year -> my ACCA exam docket for Dec 2005 exams arrived by air mail. Particulars all correct. Better start planning my leave for that last week of instense preparation. Till date I've not really started my revision, just attending lectures and did some reading and questions after each lectures that all. Think I'll have some difficulties adjusting my current 'wild & playful' lifestyle and tone down for the upcoming exams. Hai~

finally....by air

Preparing for Exams & Champions League match!

Finally, a public holiday - Hari Raya Puasa, and holidays are the best to rest and study. Managed to took urgent leave to attend a business/accountancy related seminar and went shopping and spending some alone time. Kind of stupid to buy 2 PC games (F.E.A.R & Quake 4) when its 41 days away from Paper 2.4 ACCA Exam!? Honestly speaking, my revision isn't really that dicipline earlier on.

Damn! I really gotta start spending more time on exam prep. I better get back to studies from my rather long break now. Target : spend quality 1.5 hrs revision time from now onwards till 3.30am and watch Lillie v Man Utd live later. Man Utd better put on a better performance after that humiliating defeat at Boro.

small scale BBQ

Drag myself to the BBQ today coz doesn't feels like going leh... just wanna go out with my another group of friends. Since gotta go, might as well make the most of it n enjoy lor coz it's supposed for us to 'chill' after the audit. Very kind of Garry to fetch me at my house in his Matrix GLS. During the journey to West Coast then realised that I've be conned : need help to collect the food somewhere at Clementi, aiyoh so ley-che.

Walked to our allocated BBQ spot from the carpark carrying all the food and stuffs n the rest of the people were LATE! Not to waste time, Mr Phua start off by setting up the charcoal and stuffs. Ha ha actually I'm the BBQ expert but nevermind, let the guys do the dirty jobs. I just make sure they have my taste my special golden brown chicken wings....

then came JJ around 7.30pm ++ looking very hip hop. Looks obviously out of place man coz he is going clubbing after that. What da F! never cho me before hand?! Then he happily left the BBQ bout 9pm. This guy really gotta problem...I'll deal with JJ on Monday.

Money well spent?

Gosh... I'm so tired after a day on hard work and rushing to class after that. Gonna achieve my 1st target checkpoint soon, i.e. not to miss any lessons this year. 5 more lectures for this ACCA paper 2.4 Financial Management & Control to go before finishing the syllabus. It's really a fucking tough paper in level 2. Did my research and realised it has a international passing rate of only 37%!!

Spent $266.00 (after some rebates) today to register for this paper's revision package commencing end Nov. It's gonna be tough and stressful for me... coping with the coming audits at work + the studies. Really looking forward to Christmas. The revision timetable is crap man!

Sat 26/11 ~ 10am to 1pm, 2pm to 5pm
Sun 27/11 ~ 10am to 1pm, 2pm to 5pm
Mon 28/11 ~ 6.45pm to 9.45pm
Tue 29/11 ~ 6.45pm to 9.45pm

It's going to be physically & mentally taxing! $Money$ will spent on the revision package? I hope so.

Getting late now, tommorrow still have BBQ....aiyoh tired.

Additional revision package for this module (S$266 for 6 lessons only!)

Yeah Sentosa!

Today the guys are going Sentosa for an 'Amazing Race'. Supposed to meet 'em in the morning but my boss wants us back at office to finalise all the stuffs for the coming audit. Damn... another sat morn burned! With Sentosa in mind, I rushed to complete all my work and rushed to join the guys at Sentosa. I really wanted to be with the guys coz I've not be with them for a long time due to my hectic schedule.

Anyway, managed to meet up with the guys around 3pm+ and played out whatever race they're doing. Kaisiong rather planned the fun well, 3 groups running around the island finding clues, snapping shots as proof, carrying out embrassing forfeits or weird stunts at some point. It's nice having fun with the pals. All's well n planned but too bad for Kaisiong...being the birthday boy, he got some special treatment from us! Ha Ha. The 'event organisers' did a farily good job....

New Toy > Sony PSP

Finally, I bought the Sony PlayStation Portable, more conveniently known as the PSP. I've be monitoring all the news and stuffs ever since it was officially launched some months back. And today, I finally couldn't control the urge and was bought it at Sim Lim Square + 3 games and some additional accessories). I'm a gamer, a hardcore one and PSP is a necessity!

Spend the whole eve exploring my new toy and I've nothing to say but thumbs up for this piece of evil little thing! I'm very impressive of this console. Some thoughts :

slick design, impressive wide-screen display, PS2-like graphics (if not, better), built-in Wi-Fi, Web browser, MP3 and video playback, and image viewer, etc. Indeed, one of the most highly anticipated tech products. No wonder it was awarded the CNET Editors' Choice.

I've got Slipknot tickets!

This is gonna be the major shit in my life. Slipknot is S'pore! would u believe it? It's such a rare chance that I can't miss man! Tried to psycho all friends to go together but only Marshall and ah How interested! (Huan Jie, u'll regret not going, dude!) Aint gonna waste time coz may ran out of tickets! Just whack..... went to to Sistic website and purchase the most expensive tickets available for the 3 of us. OMFG, I'm gonna collect the tickets tomorrow at the Lot 1 counter. It's gonna be hell of a kick-ass gig!

BARON’S STRONG BREW present SLIPKNOT “The Subliminal Verses Tour” Live in Singapore on August 16th at Fort Canning Park, 8pm It's the only show in Asia and Slipknot is going to rock Singapore like its never been rocked before!

I'll be at the the front stage kicking & jumping the time of my life among the maggots!! ha ha

See what the press says...

Concert promoter Lauretta Alabons of LAMC Productions said: "Slipknot is the biggest metal act to play Singapore since Metallica first came here in 1993.

It's a real milestone to bring them here." Slipknot's history is a genuine small-town-to-bright-lights success story.

But despite all they have achieved since they appeared in 1996, critics would still rather demonise them, just because they wear masks and don't sing love songs.

Speaking to Today from his hotel room in Zurich where the band had just played to a sellout audience, Slipknot bassist Paul Gray said: "It is mind-boggling that people still focus on image after all these years. When we (came up with our image), we thought it would be a cool way to get honest reactions from people at our shows. People didn't know what we looked like, so we could get truthful opinions about our music!"

Gray is soft-spoken and surprisingly affable, something you wouldn't expect from a man who wears a bloodied pig mask during his performances.

"People get us wrong all the time. We got banned from playing in Greece and Ireland, which was funny. We do get all these moral groups calling us evil and Satanic but I suppose that happens when you form a band and play heavy metal," he sighed.

However, there is an upside.

"This may be cynical, but the way I see it, negativity brings us fans. People get curious and we win some new fans along the way. The truth is, I'm not worried too much about what people say about us," Gray said.

Calling himself an outsider, the bassist added that, rather than being influenced by Satanic scriptures, Slipknot is actually a product of the band members' surroundings.

"Slipknot is the result of growing up in Iowa," he said. "It's a very bitter, bleak place, basically the worst part of America. There's nothing for young people to do, so they end up messing up their lives." "Growing up in a place like we did, I think we can safely say that we know about isolation. Maybe that's why kids take solace in our music. They can tell that we know exactly what they're feeling - that reality is tough."

Gray also puts paid to claims that a typical Slipknot show, while being an intense sonic and visual experience, is also incredibly violent.

"Our shows may be brutal but they are also therapeutic. That's what we do - the kids come to our shows and go crazy. Then they walk out, cleansed of all the bad stuff that has built up in them." If nothing else, he added, Slipknot is about being unpretentious.

"We have always wanted Slipknot to be totally and just about the music," he said. "Why should anybody see our faces? What have our clothes got to do with anything? All we care about is developing the most insane live shows and making our fans happy. When people tell us we're intense musicians, we take that as a huge compliment."
